THE OFFER OF BASIC PRIMARY EDUCATION (BPE)

Basic Primary Education provides the child with a combination of skills that allow him or her to develop a better understanding of reality. It is always remembered that each one of them needs the benefit of different resources in order to succeed. For an effective learning process it is fundamental that the teacher recognises these particular traits.

We have in mind that each pupil or group of pupils arrives with a pre-determined way of structuring the world in which they live, which is distinguished according to the socio-cultural group in which they live, the stimuli they receive, the characteristics of their families and their past experiences. According to this knowledge of the pupils, the teacher will select the central aspects for work in the classroom.

We believe that the initial education of every human being ought to be built on solid, well-structured foundations that provide an all-round and interdisciplinary (combined) education, in order to create generations of enterprising people with a spirit of continual growth, who may never lapse into mediocrity.

In this way, academic disciplines are aimed at the active construction of intellectual abilities that work with symbols, ideas, images, representations, concepts and other abstractions that make up the field of KNOWING and of KNOWING HOW TO REASON. They will likewise develop personal and social skills, enabling the pupils to participate fully in society.

THE COMBINED PROJECT

Academic subjects are not taught in isolation, nor do they concern themselves with only one single discipline, but rather are combined in a dynamic relationship. They are founded on an interdisciplinary idea, taking the phases of growth into account.

This combination necessarily comprises a grading and sequencing of learning whose continuity must not be impeded by setbacks, pauses or fragmentation. The goals attained on completing Kindergarten will generally form the expected starting points at the beginning of the first form of Basic Primary School. Likewise, combined learning continues at Secondary Level. In order for this to happen in a balanced and natural manner, we establish intense communication between the three levels, as well as a series of activities with the actors involved in this educational process.
